Week 1 – Pregnancy Symptoms
Note: Week 1 of pregnancy is technically counted from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). You’re not actually pregnant yet, but your body is preparing for ovulation.
Menstrual bleeding
You’ll be experiencing your period this week. It’s your body’s way of shedding the previous cycle’s uterine lining to prepare for a possible pregnancy.
Mild cramping and back pain
Typical menstrual cramps and lower back discomfort may occur as your uterus contracts.
Hormonal shifts
Hormone levels such as estrogen and progesterone are starting to rise, setting the stage for ovulation in about 2 weeks.
