Story

The Three Little Pigs

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who set out into the world to build their own homes and seek their fortune.

The first little pig was very lazy. He didn’t want to work hard, so he built his house out of straw. It took him just a short time, and then he went off to play.

The second little pig was a little less lazy, but still didn’t want to work too hard. He built his house out of sticks. It was stronger than the straw house, but not by much.

The third little pig was very hardworking and wise. He built his house out of bricks, which took a long time and a lot of effort, but it was sturdy and strong.

One day, a big bad wolf came along. He was very hungry and wanted to eat the pigs.

He came to the straw house and knocked on the door.

“Little pig, little pig, let me come in!”
“Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!”

And he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the straw house down! The first little pig ran to his brother’s stick house.

The wolf followed and knocked on the stick house door.

“Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!”
“Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!”

And he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the stick house down! The two little pigs ran to their brother’s brick house.

The wolf came to the brick house and knocked on the door.

“Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!”
“Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!”

So the wolf huffed, and he puffed, and he huffed, and he puffed—but he couldn’t blow the brick house down! It was too strong.

Angry and sneaky, the wolf tried to climb down the chimney. But the third little pig had a pot of boiling water waiting at the fireplace.

As the wolf slid down, he fell right into the pot—ouch!—and ran off howling, never to bother the three little pigs again.

From then on, the three little pigs lived happily ever after, safe in their strong brick house.
