Unit 1: Self & Family
Week 1: Myself ‒ my body parts, senses
Day 1: Hands-on Learning
Activity: Touch and Tell Body Part Game
-
Stand in front of a mirror with your child.
-
Say a body part (e.g., “touch your nose!”) – child touches and says what that part does.
-
Ask: What do you do with your eyes/nose/hands/legs?
-
Bonus: Do a matching activity using body part flashcards and real action (e.g., hold a card with “ear” – child touches ear).
Materials: Mirror, basic sketch of human body (optional), cut-out cards with body part names.
Day 2: Story-Based Learning
Story Title: “Bunty and His Super Senses”
Bunty, a little boy, wakes up with his senses turned into superpowers! His eyes can see super far, ears can hear whispers from across the street, nose smells even the cake baking 3 houses away!
One by one, he explores what each sense does until he realizes that having just the right amount of each sense is perfect for daily life.
Parent Tip: Act out Bunty’s reactions (sniffing, listening, squinting), and ask your child which sense he used in each situation.
Day 3: Creative Activity
Activity: “My Body and Senses” Chart
-
Draw an outline of the child’s body on a big paper.
-
Paste cut-outs or draw eyes, nose, ears, hands, mouth.
-
Label each body part with its use (e.g., “Eyes – see”, “Tongue – taste”).
-
Use textures: cotton for eyes, sandpaper for skin, etc., if available.
Materials: Chart paper, glue, old magazines, crayons, scrap fabric/paper.
Day 4: Outdoor Exploration
Activity: Senses Walk
-
Go outside (to a garden, park, or balcony).
-
Ask your child to close eyes and listen – What do they hear?
-
Smell the air or nearby flowers.
-
Touch the bark, leaves, stones.
-
Observe and collect 2–3 items (leaf, stone, feather) to talk about texture.
Discussion Prompts:
-
What did you hear that you don’t hear indoors?
-
Was the leaf smooth or rough?
Day 5: Review & Fun Game
Game 1: “Simon Says – Senses Edition”
-
“Simon says touch your nose!”
-
“Simon says wiggle your ears!”
-
Add senses: “Simon says sniff like a dog!” or “Taste like you ate lemon!”
Game 2: Body Bingo
-
Create a bingo card with body parts (ear, hand, eye, leg, etc.).
-
Call out: “Part that helps you hear!” – Child marks ear.
Bonus Review:
Ask questions like:
-
Which body part helps you smell flowers?
-
Which sense helps you taste mango?
