Leap 1
Understanding Child Development
Activity Name: Building Self‑Esteem.
Description:
Organize a small group art session with your child and their friends or classmates. Give each child simple art materials like paper, crayons, or paints, and ask them to create an artwork that shows something about themselves — what they like, what makes them happy, or what they are proud of.
After everyone finishes, form a positive affirmation circle. Each child takes a turn to show their artwork and share one good thing about themselves. The other children (and parents) also say one kind or encouraging thing to that child — for example, “You are very creative,” or “I like how carefully you colored this.”
End the session with a short reflection activity. Talk with the children about what they learned, how their drawings show their growth, and what new things they are proud of. This helps them understand their own progress and builds self-confidence in a joyful way.
Objective:
This will help teens and parents understand how self-esteem develops and its impact on confidence and relationships. It will encourage open discussions about personal strengths and overcoming self-doubt. It will also foster a supportive environment where positive reinforcement is emphasized.
Frequency: 3-4 times a month.
