Leap 1 – Week 1 – Activities

Linguistic

Activity Name: News reporters.

Description: Begin the activity by telling your child that you’ll both pretend to be news reporters. Explain what a news reporter does and how they share stories about events happening around the world. Then, take turns reporting on the day’s events. Feel free to dress up for fun! You can go first to give an example, especially if your child needs a little guidance. Encourage your child to have a turn and listen closely to what they say.

Objective: This activity helps them practice speaking in full sentences and recalling the day’s experiences.

Frequency: 3-4 times a week.

Emotional & Social

Activity Name: Express and identify feelings.

Description: Start this activity by showing your child cutouts of different emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, and surprise. Help them glue the pictures onto a piece of cardstock. Then, ask simple questions about each image and talk about how the people might be feeling. After that, choose an emotion you both relate to and draw it together.

Objective: This activity helps your child recognize and express emotions, supporting the development of emotional intelligence

Frequency: 3-4 times a week.

Physical

Activity Name: Stairs.

Description: Start this activity by placing a strip of adhesive tape on the floor near a staircase. Encourage your toddler to walk along the line, then go up and down the stairs, and return to walk along the line again. Offer support as needed and praise her each time she completes a step on her own.

Objective: This activity helps strengthen your toddler’s gross motor skills and improves her balance as she navigates the stairs.

Frequency: 3-4 times a week.

Cognitive

Activity Name: What instrument is playing?

Description: Start this activity by introducing the instruments to your child and repeating the name of each one. Play each instrument so your little one can connect its name with its sound. Then, encourage your child to identify the instruments just by hearing their sounds. Afterward, let them explore and play with the instruments freely.

Objective: This activity helps develop your child’s memory, symbolic thinking, and musical skills.

Frequency: 3-4 times a week.
