Hanuman’s Devotion to Ram

Long, long ago, during the epic war between Lord Rama and the demon king Ravana, the battlefield was filled with the clash of mighty warriors and the cries of good striving against evil. In a devastating moment, Lakshmana, Rama’s beloved brother, fell unconscious, struck by a fierce and venomous weapon unleashed by Ravana’s powerful son, Indrajit.

The forces of good were plunged into sorrow. Without Lakshmana, the battle could not continue, and Rama’s heart was heavy with grief. At this critical moment, the wise elder Jambavan turned to Hanuman — the son of the wind god, the embodiment of strength, devotion, and humility — and urged him to fly to the distant Dronagiri mountain. There, among thousands of medicinal plants, grew the sacred Sanjeevani Booti, a mystical herb with the power to heal even the gravest wounds and revive life itself.

With no time to lose, Hanuman bowed reverently before Rama, promising to bring back the cure. Summoning all his divine strength and speed, Hanuman leaped into the air, his mighty form streaking across the skies like a comet. He crossed mountains, rivers, dense forests, and barren deserts in a single breath, his heart chanting Rama’s name with every beat.

When he finally reached the towering heights of Dronagiri, Hanuman faced a dilemma — the mountain was covered in countless herbs, each with its own magic and mystery. Though mighty in strength, Hanuman was humble in knowledge of herbs. He could not risk bringing the wrong plant and wasting precious moments that Lakshmana might not survive.

Driven by fierce devotion and love deeper than oceans, Hanuman made a bold decision. Instead of searching endlessly, he uprooted the entire mountain with his immense strength and carried it back across the skies, his silhouette a glowing beacon of hope against the dark heavens.

When Hanuman returned, the knowledgeable healers quickly found the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshmana. Joy and hope burst forth among Rama’s forces, and the tides of battle turned once again toward righteousness.

Yet, Hanuman’s devotion did not end there. Later, touched by Hanuman’s countless acts of service, Lord Rama, curious to see the depth of Hanuman’s love, asked him, “Hanuman, how deep is your devotion to me?”

Without hesitation, Hanuman placed his hand on his chest. In a breathtaking act of pure surrender, he tore open his own heart — and within, everyone present saw a wondrous sight: the divine images of Rama and Sita, radiant and serene, nestled at the very core of Hanuman’s being. His flesh, his blood, his soul — all existed only to serve and love his Lord and Lady.

Those who witnessed it were awestruck, their hearts overwhelmed with the purity of Hanuman’s spirit. They realized that true devotion is not just spoken in words or proven through deeds — it is something woven into the very fabric of one’s existence.

Lesson:

True loyalty and love have the power to move mountains — literally and metaphorically. When our hearts are filled with pure devotion, courage flows, strength multiplies, and even the impossible becomes possible. It is not outer achievements but the love in our hearts that defines true greatness.
